Corks and Bubbles soaps are uniquely designed utilizing a vegan based cold process method. The making of soap s truly magical - fatty acids, which can include Olive, Coconut and Shea to name a few, are mixed with sodium hydroxide (lye which by the way is not present in the final product). These mix together triggering a magical process call saponification (the chemical reaction of making soap). All soap is made from lye; without the lye it’s a detergent.
Our environmental footprint involves sourcing product through cooperatives, local farms, as well as packing our orders in upcycled and reusable packaging; wherever possible.
Ingredients vary from bar to bar; here are the basic ingredients commonly used in our products:
Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil, Water/Eau, Sunflower helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea) butter, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) oil, Ricinus communis (Castor) seed oil, Sodium hydroxide, Sodium lactate, Kaolin clay, Zinc oxide, Lemongrass (Cymbopogon Schoenanthus) essential oil, Yellow iron oxide and a whole lotta love!

Oils and butters
All our soaps arrive with ingredient labelling. Please refer to the product listing tab for a complete list of ingredients:
Butyrospermum parkii (Shea) Butter is 100% unrefined natural extracted from the Shea nut. It contains large quantities of vitamin E, allantoin, as well as many other important constituents making it a wonderful butter with skin softening, moisturizing, and regenerating the skin.
Cocos nucifera (Coconut) oil is cold pressed from the meat of the coconut. Very rich in fatty acids, coconut oil makes great massage oil, or added to lotion bars. It helps keep the skin soft and smooth, and its natural anti-oxidants help to prevent the premature aging of the skin.
Olea europaea (Olive) oil is obtained by grinding whole tree-ripened olives and extracting the oil. High in oleic acid and rich in vitamin E, it is a good skin cell regenerator. A truly “unique “oil.
Helianthus annulus (Sunflower) seed oil contributes moisturizing attributes to soaps, creams and lotions and prevents additional skin cell damage while maintaining the natural structure of the skin itself.
Ricinus communis (Castor) oil has an excellent emollient and lubricating properties. It’s my go to oil to help increase bubbles and lather.
Sodium Hydroxide(Lye) is also known and lye, caustic soda. It is an inorganic compound used to control the pH levels or serve as a buffering agent in personal care products. All real soap is made using lye. Any skin washing product that is made without sodium hydroxide is a detergent, not soap. We cure our soaps for weeks before selling. Once the process of saponification is complete, the lye and oil molecules have combined and through the magic of chemistry have become soap. There is no lye present in the finished bars of soap.
Sodium Lactate Preservative is naturally derived from the fermentation of Lactic Acid. Sodium Lactate is considered to have antioxidant properties and can improve bacterial stability in products. When added to soap it contributes to a harder bar of soap. It is also considered to be a natural humectant (draws moisture to itself).
Essential Oils from the sweet aroma of lavender fresh from the farm to our signature lemongrass bar, our soaps are packed with the stimulating fragrance of various essential oils that ignite your senses. An essential oil is a concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing aromatic compound from plants from which they were extracted. For variety, if request by our customers we use fragrant oils - but only if they are Phthalate free. Phthalates can be found naturally (berries, mushrooms) and are sometimes used to prevent "crystallization" in certain fragrance oils.
Honey: Honey is a humectant, smells great, and (because of it's sugar content) makes soap even bubblier
Avena sativa (oatmeal): Oatmeal adds both moisturizing and gentle exfoliating properties to your soap
Tussah ("peace") silk: Tussah silk is a cruelty free silk, harvest from silkworm cocoons only after the silkworms have vacated them. Adding a small amount of soap, they contribute some proteins that make the soap silky smooth. We've tried it in a few batches but have found that it makes little difference in our formulation and therefore we are sticking to our vegan formula.
Vitamin E: Tocopherol (all natural Vitamin E): Works as an antioxidant to extend shelf life of oil-based products.
Avocado oil: This oil is high in vitamins A, B1, B2, and E. It is said to aid in the healing of damaged skin and cell generation. A wonderful choice for skin and hair care as it absorbs easily in the skin
Green Tea Botanical Extract: Green Tea Extra is used internationally in cosmetics, as it is a rich source of antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E. It is said to help repair the effects of aging and environmental factors.
